Avocado is a green fruit that grows on the avocado tree. It is also known as an avocado pear. The skin is relatively hard, dark green (sometimes almost black) and slightly textured. It has a relatively large, round stone.

De oorsprong van avocado Origin

The avocado originates from Mexico. We import our avocados from all over the world, particularly from Peru, Chile, South Africa, Colombia, Mexico and Dominican Republic.

The taste of avocado Taste

Avocado has soft, yellow-green flesh with a creamy, slightly nutty flavour.

Use of avocado? Use

Avocado is delicious eaten on its own, seasoned with a little salt and pepper. It also tastes wonderful in salads, soups and salsas. Alternatively, thin slices of avocado make a delicious sandwich filling. You can also use avocado as a substitute for butter on your bread!

Storage avocado?Storage

Store avocados in a cool place (12-15°C). Don’t store in the refrigerator as this interrupts the ripening process. A ripe avocado feels soft when pressed gently at the stalk end.

Avocado tips Avocado Tip

Avocados consist of approximately 18% fat. But don’t let this put you off: most of this is made up of monounsaturated fats, particularly oleic acid (the good fats). This means avocado is extremely healthy!
